Management of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is being progressively used throughout the world to overcome many of the limitations of today’s air navigation infrastructure. With its accurate, seamless, all-weather three-dimensional coverage, GNSS offers a satellite navigation service that satisfies many of the Area Navigation (RNAV) requirements. With growing use of RNAV (GNSS), air navigation service providers will be able to optimise airspace and procedure design to provide more efficient flight tracks to operators. Through review of practical examples, you will learn how to implement RNAV (GNSS) operations and achieve the important safety and operational benefits.

How You Will Benefit

You will benefit by learning through a case study about:

  • The GNSS technologies
  • GNSS interference and mitigation
  • The RNAV (GNSS) safety and operational benefits
  • The distinction between RNAV, and basic and advanced Required Navigation Performance (RNP)
  • The steps leading to RNAV (GNSS) operations
  • Advanced RNP functionalities
  • The pitfalls to implementation
  • Other CNS/ATM applications
