IATA and IATAN: Teaming up for a win-win situation
2006-03-15 - Just over a year ago, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) joined forces with the International Airlines Travel Agent Network (IATAN), it’s U.S. subsidiary to create the largest network in the world dedicated to providing quality products and services to the travel and tourism industry.
This consolidation gave birth to a new dynamic spirit, a commitment to reinforce IATA leadership position for being the most innovative player in the field and a series of solid initiatives to promote the interests of professional Travel Agents and Agency owners.
These included the creation of a new joint IATA/IATAN ID card with a CUSS-readable bar code. CUSS (Common Use Self-Service) is the name for self-service kiosks for self-service check-in, a growing trend at airports and hotels around the world.
The network also updated collaterals and promotional materials, and launched a unique Website: AgentExperience.
AgentExperience gives suppliers the opportunity to post special deals on their products and services for the 230,000 IATA/IATAN cardholders who have exclusive access to the site. The site gives suppliers access to the ideal target group - certified travel professionals who can take first-hand product experience back to their own clients.
