IATA strives to facilitate communications relating to the sale of international air transportation between airlines and ERSPs operating through the Internet or other online services.
To this end, the IATA Passenger Agency Conference (PAConf), in cooperation with Air Transport Association of America (ATA) and the Airlines Reporting Corporation (ARC) have developed a numbering scheme to identify all ERSPs including traditional professional travel agents operating an electronic reservations service.
ERSP consists of the allocation of a unique numeric code to be used as a means of identification when performing online bookings with airlines. This service applies to travel industry suppliers:
- whose business includes electronic reservation of airline tickets;
- owning a website or web-based application allowing electronic transactions of airline tickets.
The IATA ERSP unique numeric code enables travel industry suppliers:
ERSP fees and application requirements.
