This month:
ET in 2006 and the road ahead
In 2006, the ETs issued in BPSs increased from 41% to 74% - meaning 10 million less paper tickets are now issued each month than a year ago. With 196 airlines amounting to 92% of BSP volume already issuing ET, we are very much on target to complete the ET project. The challenge is now on for each airline to reach as close as they can to 100% ET (including interline tickets) by the end of 2007, before paper ticket stock is withdrawn from all travel agents.
RFID expands
The IATA Board of Governors extended the scope of RFID beyond baggage to 4 other aviation applications:
- In-flight
- Management of parts
- Aircraft turnaround
- Cross applications
Learn about these RFID areas by visiting the new RFID pages on the StB Support Portal.
In addition, new RFID materials are now available for you. You will find a document summarizing the main RFID trials for baggage handling activities as well as various training presentations for a better understanding of RFID.
