SIMPLIFIED INTERLINE SETTLEMENT
The Simplified Interline Settlement (SIS) project aims to simplify interline billing, and remove paper from the entire process, delivering tangible financial benefits to the industry.
Over the last few months, the SIS project team has been busy with key project tasks, including:
- Creating a Request For Proposal, evaluating responses, and negotiating with vendors
- Putting together a potential charging model for the service
- Creating an internal business case to commit funding and move the project forward within IATA
Our next steps are to:
- Finalise the necessary contracts with the chosen vendor and formally plan the entire project
- Communicate more information to the industry
In March, we plan to release information including the Integrated Settlement charging model, so that airlines may make their internal business cases.
We will also begin producing more information for the industry, such as these bulletins, the website, and webcasts.
- Work with the chosen vendor and working groups to finalise the requirements
The airline working groups have so far been integral to SIS. In April, we plan to bring some of the working groups back together in order to finalise the solution requirements with the assistance of the chosen vendor. As part of this, we will formalise and publish the specifications for the upgraded IDEC (IS-IDEC) and the IS-XML structures.
- Assist airlines in evaluating their country’s legislation involving e-invoicing
After this, we will begin the development and working with the carriers who will be piloting the service.
